INTRODUCTION Dear Members, We would first like to thank the Morton Civic Association, your president Mrs. Sossi and her Board for allowing us the time and platform to showcase our company when looking for an alternative for oil in your home. We are certain that if you are reading this letter today, you have been well versed in the benefits of natural gas already. It is our belief that an informed customer is a better customer, and this is our goal here today. This conversion packet has been developed with the specific task of reiterating these natural gas benefits to you in more detail. We are hear to educate you on the various types of natural gas equipment available, their associated efficiencies, and provide you with price points for the various combination of systems that are available. We would like to stress to you that each home has its own individual characteristics that will determine what type of heating, hot water, or gas system is the correct fit to maximize both customer satisfaction and energy efficiency and minimize the economic impact on your wallet. Each home will be reviewed and estimated on a case by case basis with an experienced comfort specialist from our company. The pricing provided is for guide purposes only. It is to assist you in the decision making process of making the conversion. Being a part of a large organization like MCA, will provide you additional benefits(as described in this packet) that are exclusive to only you the MCA member. Page 1 of 4
We would like for you to take the time to review this conversion packet, and fill out the form at the back, jot down any additional questions you may have and give them immediately to us after we conclude this meeting. If you have missed the opportunity to submit the form at today s meeting feel free to contact us directly or send it via mail or email. In addition if you would like to get started on your conversion make an appointment today for an onsite estimate. For those of you where there is natural gas already available for your home (refer to map in this packet), the conversion process can begin rather quickly to capitalize on the current Energy Efficiency Rebates Program provided through National Grid. Thank you in advance for your time and appreciate your consideration in conversion projects. Recently we have been informed by your Board, that your association has expressed a serious interest in switching from oil to gas as their primary source of fuel to heat their homes. Recently we met with your president, Marion Sossi at her home to review at typical installation process. In that meeting Mrs. Sossi, asked for us to educate the members as we had her during our meeting with a letter. I am sure by now many of you have been briefed on the many benefits of natural gas in the home. There are a few items I would likely to quickly touch on. The first is the current cost of natural gas and its price stability compared to that of oil. The ability to achieve higher efficiencies of gas equipment and the ability to maintain them over time. Less maintenance on equipment. No deliveries, No tanks, No spillage. Cooktops, Fire Place and BBQ s. It is my personal opinion that converting to natural gas results in an headache free environment for the customer, with both economic and environmental benefits. National Grid, the natural gas supplier for your area, has already natural gas in some areas of the association. We have already been in close contact with them regarding your conversion interest and they are willing to assist you in the process. In addition there are some economic incentives currently in place with National Grid, and tax incentives with the Federal Government to provide some economic assistance to your conversions. Page 3 of 4
Energy Efficiency Rebate program provided through National Grid based at the time of your conversion. High efficiency equipment is provided with a rebate back to the customer. This rebate is based at the time of your conversion and changes every three months. Discounted boiler program that is provided through National Grid, provides boilers and furnaces at a discounted price to the homeowner. This discount is based at the time of your conversion and changes once or twice a year. Discount amount is based on the type of equipment you are installing. In addition National Grid will entertain an additional boiler discount or customer rebate, for the enormity of this specific project. In other words if you can guarantee a certain quota of customer conversions the bigger a discount they may apply. This is not guaranteed by National Grid at this time, but based on participation it may provide additional incentive to convert. For additional information please take a look at the National Grid website at www.powerofaction.com/efficiency Our company has done hundreds of successful oil to gas conversions in recent years and is a part of the National Grid Value Plus Installer program. In addition we have extensive experience in high efficiency modulating condensing gas boilers that many of you may have already heard about. At our offices we have an operational high efficiency boiler on display and all its components for our customers to come, touch, feel and learn about the technology and its benefits. We are a certified and trained installer of the Lochinvar Knight boiler which is one of the leading boiler manufacturers in the condensing boiler industry(www.knightheatingboiler.com). We would like to thank you in advance for your time and appreciate your consideration in conversion projects. If you have any questions or would like to meet us in person do not hesitate to give me a call at 516-334-6701. Respectfully, Vincent Scialli Scialli Plumbing Page 4 of 4

NATURAL GAS BENEFITS The chart above (provided by National Grid) is based on existing equipment at 80% efficiencies. Some older oil systems similar to the homes found in MCA have efficiencies well below that estimated figure around 65% range. SAVINGS ARE LARGER THAN DEPICTED. Page 1 of 9

HIGH EFFICIENCY HEATING SYSTEMS With Natural Gas its easy to achieve the highest of energy efficiencies for heating systems today with the use of special boilers called Condensing Boilers. What makes them even more special is their ability to modulate themselves. With Natural Gas these boilers are easy to maintain and their level of efficiencies do not decrease over time as oil boilers do. What is a Condensing Boiler? A condensing boiler is a boiler that is designed to capture and reuse energy that conventional boilers discharge through the exhaust flue. The name "Condensing Boiler" originates from their ability to condense the water vapor produced by the conventional consumption of gas in the boiler. The heat involved in the vaporization process can be reclaimed by these boilers and used to heat your home. That is why condensing boilers have efficiencies in the 94% range or better. What is Modulating? In addition many gas condensing boilers today come equipped with modulating gas valves. These boilers modulate the fire rate of the boilers based on the energy required to maintain the heat demand at a certain temperature with reference to the outside temperature. Modulation can sometimes play a more pivotal role in bringing energy costs down than efficiency alone. For example a 100,000 BTU boiler can modulate down to a minimum of 20,000 BTU. Therefore the warmer it gets outside the less gas the boiler will burn to heat your home. SCIALLI COMMITMENT TO THIS TECHNOLOGY At Scialli Plumbing we have a fully operational condensing boiler heating system training lab for our employees to train on and our customers to visit and learn first hand about the future of condensing technology. In the past year we have installed numerous condensing boilers Page 4 of 9
throughout Long Island in both new installs and oil to gas conversions. As a customer there are many reputable ModCon Boiler Manufacturers to choose from. In my opinion the LOCHINVAR corporation manufactures one of the best gas fired modulating condensing (ModCon) boiler on the market today known as the Knight Boiler. We have visited Lochinvar s Headquarters and manufacturing plant in Tennessee twice this past year for extensive training and certification in the "KNIGHT" Boiler technology. Scialli Plumbing was awarded boiler installation of the month for April of 2009 in a nationwide competition hosted by Lochinvar. When installed properly and in the correct application this technology can decrease home fuel costs as much as 40%. In today's fuel oil market the time is ripe to make the change from oil to gas. Now is the perfect time to invest in this technology. Feel free to give us a call anytime. We will gladly tell you the pros and cons of modulating condensing(modcon) boilers and see if it s the right fit for your home. OUR TRAINING FACILITY Page 5 of 9

Dear MCA Member Thank you for your interest in converting to clean natural gas. As a result of interest in your neighborhood to convert to clean natural gas, we are investigating the possibilities of bringing natural gas service to your home. Note: There are a number of homes in the association that the process can begin immediately, (view areas on map in green). The remaining homes in yellow will need 70%-80% anticipation to facilitate gas to their homes. Natural gas is also good for the environment; it s domestic, has less moving parts and saves you much needed valuable space. With natural gas, there s no soot to clean. It s also reliable, it s always there when you need it and you only pay for what you use, when you use it. Before we can start the process, please fill out the enclosed survey and return to us tonight so we can identify those residences who are immediately interested in converting their existing heating systems, and those customers who will convert in the future. Now you can enjoy all the benefits of natural gas. A new, natural gas heating system will make your home more valuable and run much more efficiently than an existing old oil system and increase the value of your property, your biggest investment! Sincerely, The Scialli Plumbing Team
